Competition Robotics :

NOW! Forming teams for 2019-2020 Competition

After the start of our first successful year offering competitive robotics at the middle school level we are expanding to include Elementary School level Competition Robotics. Currently our Middle School team is competing and won the judges award for their robot design in their very first ever competition. We are currently forming teams for the next season in all age groups. Take a look at our program below and pick the one that is the best fit. We place competitors at the age appropriate level based on their grade level next year.

Why Vex Robotics?

Why Competitive Robotics?

Robotics is increasingly being considered as the fourth “R” of learning, “Reading, wRriting and aRithmatic” that modern-day students must understand to succeed in a highly competitive, technology-driven world. Teams put their classroom Stem skills to the test in game based engineering challenges. Aside from the technical design, programming and math that goes into the challenge. The teams will also come away with Life long skills in Creative Problem solving, Collaboration, Leadership, Communication and much more.

The Vex robotics competition is the largest & fastest-growing educational robotics competition for middle school through college-aged students in the world. Each year, an exciting engineering challenge is presented in the form of a game. At the EDR level(Middle School through College) they have over 11,400 teams competing world wide. The IQ level(Elementary School through Middle School) has over 8000 teams competing all based on 2016-2017 competition years. We at Blaze feel that this is the best option for students to pursue their robotics passions through college.

Experienced Robotics

First Time Robotics

This is for those that are either returning teams or have experience in other leagues such as FLL. You are more than welcome to take the class which would be aimed at improving your current skill set. For these teams we will do a skill assessment in early August and form teams at the end of August. The Goal is to have balanced teams to ensure we compete at the highest level. Returning teams are expected to stay together.

Competitive Robotics needs a base skill set to work from. For first time competitive robotics students we start with a program in Robotics. The program teachers both the Mechanical and Software Engineering skills to succeed in the competitions. We go over concepts like Drive trains, Lift Systems, Gear Ratios into the Software side of working with Motors, Sensors and automation. The 10 week 2 hours a week program gets them ready to succeed against tough competition!
