What does thankful mean to you?
This week is the Thanksgiving week. Everyone knows that at Thanksgiving we need to be thankful. One of my friend asked me “What does thankful mean to you?” This question makes me think deeply. Oh-yes, that is a good question, isn’t it? What does thankful mean to me? And what it even means to be thankful?
To me, thankful means to thank to the people who give me life or somethings, for example, my parents, teachers, friends. Sometimes I also thanks the people who hurt me or treat me bad, because they eventually teach me something.
Definition of thankful means expressing that consciousness, as well as the gladness which accompanies the feeling of thankfulness. As everyone knows that we need thanks for many things or people. We need thanks to earth for giving us water, air and land; thanks to parents for raising us up; thanks to teachers for teaching us knowledge; thanks to friends for their helping and accompany; thanks to farmers for bring us food.
On the other hand, we also thanks to the people who harm you that make you stronger; thanks to the people who cheat you that make you know more with this world; thanks to the people who abandoned you that make you independently.
So when we eat turkey, pumkin pie and have a big meal at Thanksgiving, do not forget thanks to the people that you need to thanks. Not only people who treat you good, but also people who treat you bad. Because both of them teach you or let you know some things.
For the sum up. Thankul is not just only at Thanksgiving. It can happen at any day, any moment, any second. It happenes at which time we have full of appreciate. I will quote Bible :“Always rejoice, constantly pray, in everything give thanks. For this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (I Thessalonians 5:16-18)
That — is what the “thankful” means to me.
